At 6 October 2020, Poland had recorded 111,599 confirmed COVID-19 cases resulting in 2,867 deaths, representing cases of around 2.95 per 1,000 inhabitants and a death rate of 2.57% of confirmed cases. Poland was also experiencing a second wave of infections in October 2020, although the death rate as a proportion of infections appeared to be reducing. Although the level of deaths may not affect life insurers greatly, the economic issues such as fallen asset values, reduced investment returns and continuing reductions in interest rates are likely to affect ....
